Assos is historical and touristic land in Turkey, Canakkale. But, do you believe it’s actually a village? Yes, Assos is an antic city at all. The history of Assos starts from the 6th centery. Historical researches show up that, Persians located at Assos at 6th century. They started to live there at 6th century and until the Roma Kingdom take control of the Assos Antic city.
Assos, in other word Behram in Turkish, live two different life. At winter season, it’s single and quiet like many other Turkish villages. The population of the village is not more than 1.000 but at summer times lots of people come to visit Assos antic city. It’s pity to say, the advertisement of Assos is not sufficient, actually Assos has natural and cultural treasure but most part of tourists are not informed about that. That’s why Assos is not that popular. Yes, lots of people come to visit Assos but this numbers can be much more but the accommodation and social facilities are not sufficient at Assos. For example, there is not even a health center in Assos, Behram. So, how can tourists stay in Assos? There are daily tours to Assos for tourists from other tourism centers and they are the only way to visit Assos for a tourist. Maybe, in future conditions will be better, but now Assos is not so different from an ordinary Turkish village, but it’s worth to visit for it’s historical beauty.
