Religion in Turkey

There are three major religions in Turkey; Islam, Christianity and Judaism for centuries. About most of people in Turkey are Muslim, and the history of Turkey is mostly that followed by Islamic people, their empires, architecture, arts and literature.

Istanbul is supposed to be the celebrated bench of the Ecumenical Orthodox Patriarchate and there are a number of operational alive Orthodox Christian churches in Istanbul. There are a few Roman Catholic churches and few groups of Protestants.

The most important tourist location in Turkey is the city of Istanbul. There are a number of hotels and other locations, which attracts the tourists from all over the world. Istanbul has its historic importance, as it was the capital of Byzantine and Ottoman. Some of the tourist spots in Istanbul are the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi palace, Basilica Cistern, the Dolmabahce Palace, Galata Tower, Grand Bazaar, Spice Bazaar, and Para Palas. Istanbul also has Europe’s biggest mall and the world’s seventh larget mall, the Cevahir Mall.

Geography of Turkey

Turkey falls in the Europe-Asia continent and under the southern Europe- Western Asia region. It is a transcontinental country.  This country is covered with ninety eight percent of land and two percent of water.  The highest point being Mt Agri else know as Ararat which is 5137 m and the Mediterranean Sea which is the lowest point.

Turkey has a Mediterranean climate and the dominant religion is Islam.
