There is no exact date about when this great palace started to built but historians think the palace started to built about 1450’s. The Ottoman Sultan Sultan Mehmed II who ordered his architects to build this great structure, is the first Ottoman Sultan stayed in this palace. After him, Ottoman Sultan’s and his wide family generally stayed at Topkapi Palace. Ottoman Sultan’s stayed at this palace until another great Ottoman Palace was built, Dolmabahce Palace. When Dolmabahce Palace was built, Ottoman Sultans and his family started to live there. The belongings and treasure of Ottoman Family and also lots of important belongings related to Islam or other countries are now at the Topkapi Palace Museum and visitors have chance to visit this great palace and see that amazing belongings. Topkapi Palace is very near to the other historical buildings at Istanbul so you can easily visit this palace. Topkapi Palace is available for visitors six days of a week, it’s closed on Tuesdays.
